For my two genres I decided to use social media and a comic book. I think personally these were two very effective ones well maybe the comic book is a bit of a stretch, but I still think it is a type of genre that can reach anyone. I think having different genres as a writer is important because it shows that your message is not bound to just one mold.
My first genre is social media, I personally do not use social media that often I mainly glance or just scroll at different things in my explore page but I know that so many people use social media. I figured that using that kind of internet web and reach could be used to do a large amount of good. I chose Instagram for my genre I think there are more opportunities for helpful/insightful Instagram pages. There are always posts with inspiring quotes or videos, so I felt that it was a good platform for it. I created this page so that my audience was not limited to anyone, my purpose is to obviously help spread awareness of mental health and have that message spread with reposting or gaining followers it would be more possible on Instagram because you can reach multiple people at once. I also believe that it is one way for those actually concerned with the issue to view content and if they do not, they can turn off the option to see those posts. I think posting with moderation and making each post meaningful would have a greater impact then multiple smaller posts. I also wanted to do Instagram because I think Twitter is more focused on political issues and scandals.
My other genre I was afraid at how this one was going to come out as a final product. However, being someone who likes video games and comic books, comic books have been influential for a long time. They create characters that last generations and they have large amounts of followers and readers ranging any age which is helpful reaching multiple people. I wanted to have a genre where it was something, I personally enjoy but also something that can continue and grow to mean much more than just stories. I think that the way you read comics is up to the person, so they create the most appropriate tone instead of being given a pre-generated tone in some books that do not make much sense. I wanted the story to start with a city suffering which would represent the individual person, and there is this mysterious person that is responsible for all the havoc and they are all so desperate to learn the identity. The person responsible for all the pain and havoc is yourself, when you are in such a down state you are your worst enemy and people must accept that they know who’s responsible in this case it is depression. I think comic books even though mine will not look to good can have a lot of deeper meaning and can cause someone to truly think so they can create a better plan for themselves.
